Hi,

I tried with this:

./configure LIBS='-lz'

but again got that error. However ./configure --without-z builds it fine

not sure, how much it differs without z-lib used.

There were some versions of zlib which do not have "gzgrtc_" (I think all(?) 1.2.6.XXX ) Update to
1.2.7.

I have zlib-1.2.5-7.fc16 installed, probably upgrading this might break compatibility with other packages installed on my system. So, will hold on this update to a later time, perhaps if I upgrade to Fedora 18 or 19.

They have much recent builds of octave in 18 and 19 -> http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=2672

I will without zlib support in octave for a while, and report back if I encounter any issues.

Thanks.
