Hello All,
I waited and waited for Fedora to release octave-3.8 for Fedora 20, and
finally did a bit of searching and found that builds did exists in the
rawhide repo (for Fedora 21, the next release), but nothing seemed to be
happening to get an update into Fedora 20.
I finally grabbed the Fedora 21 src.rpm and did a rebuild for Fedora 20 in
mock, and (thus far) it all seems to be working OK.
I now see Fedora bug reports about octave not being updated in Fedora 20,
and they have been closed, 'won't fix', saying that octave-3.8 is too much
of a change to do as an update for Fedora 20.
Perhaps I am missing something, but it didn't seem too much trouble to get
it built and working here.
Fedora is a fairly widely used system, and Fedora 21 won't be out for
months, possibly August, and I reckon that's too long to wait for an
official release of Octave-3.8 for Fedora users.
Anyone have any comment on this situation?
Cheers,
