How about escaping a colon in a nodename?  The only character that
comes to mind, is the colon itself.  Thus, an index entry for
definition foo::bar, would be generated and written as:

    foo::::bar:   The foo-bar node

You need to hack makeinfo as well as Info mode, of course.
