PNG Images in PDF.

Hi all,

I am tring to insert an image into a PDF document. I have PNG images and
found :

@image{pic.png} 

fails with an error message stating "pic.png.pdf" does not exist. I
changed the textinfo.tex file to not append the ".pdf" and all worked.

Why is ".pdf" appended ?

I am using textinfo.tex version 2000-12-11.07.

I could not generate a PDF image that worked.
