Hi Kip,
(1) The copyright symbol just looks like a hollowed out black circle.
(2) The navigation tree in my viewer's GUI is gone.
As far as I know, such things are problems with evince (which I have
never used and know nothing about) and/or your TeX installation, not
texinfo.tex. DVI output works fine for me (with xdvi).
