Upgrade to a more recent version of cvs. 1.11.1p1 was released in on
April 27, 2001. You will find cvs 1.11.20 which was released on April
18, 2005 is likely to have a great many bugs fixed from the version
you are presently using.
You may download from https://www.cvshome.org/ and install. You may find
it desirable to do a 'cvs init' after the install to add a few new files
to the CVSROOT directory. Everything is fully backward and forward
compatible in the cvs 1.11.x STABLE release line.
Good luck,
