I have been tasked with the task of migrating our VSS repositories into CVS, and I am looking for any advice. I consider myself a CVS newbie as I have never ran a cvs server, and have very little experience with it. However, I do know that it is used for a lot of the OSS projects and is very highly thought of.
Here is what we have: Both Linux and Windows boxes that could run CVS (I prefer Linux myself). Our main local fileserver with trusted backups runs Windows 2003 (however, they really don't want any extra processes running on the box -
i.e. the actual cvs process). All of our users are windows based users and would want to use a gui client to access the repositories. Our VSS admin would like to also use a gui to administer the repositories.
Can you give me any advice on what is the preferred way to go about this?
Has anyone done such a migration.
Are there any cross platform gui's? (I'd prefer to run cvs on Linux, but let the admin administer via windows, is this possible?)
Is there a preferred/recommended windows client for CVS?
