Left / right split in gnus

It seems that everything in emacs splits into side by side windows
rather than one above the other now, except gnus.

I actually find the new behaviour fairly annoying in a lot of
situations, but for gnus this would seem to be the ideal, but it still
works the old way.

Is there an option I can use to make gnus open a window to the right
when displaying articles?
