Works for me. Loads an RSS feed for Masha Verbitsky's blog.
(gnus-version) => Gnus v5.13
(emacs-version) => GNU Emacs 24.1.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d
scroll bars) of 2012-06-12 on ansible
I've noticed that the gnus version is not very meaningful (it's been
5.13 for literally years), so mine may contain a fix that yours doesn't
have yet if you are using the Gnus from Emacs 23. Try using the
upstream Gnus from Git repo, perhaps.
