I have run up against another issue in trying to set up a jailkit chroot jail in which a user can run rsync (only). The jail is on a 'central server' host named CS (for example).

I run this command as the user trying to rsync to the CS:
  rsync some_local_file address@hidden:.
The attempt gets this error:
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [sender]
rsync error: unexplained error (code 255) at io.c(632) [sender=3.0.4]

On host CS, the /var/log/auth.log shows (date/time has been removed to shorten): CS sshd[6238]: Accepted publickey for CSUSER from 192.168.2.190 port 50934 ssh2 CS sshd[6238]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user CSUSER by (uid=0) CS jk_chrootsh[6247]: now entering jail /usr/local/chroot_jail for user CSUSER (1002)
CS sshd[6238]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed for user CSUSER

I don't see any logging from within the jail, did you set up jk_socketd or syslog to enable logging in the jail? Very probably you can see the problem in the jk_lsh logs.
