Hi Yves,
Resending, I didn't any mail from the list after posting, maybe lost?
No. but no answer means maybe i have another job...
Yes the way to boot from bootx is interesting. May i put that in a text
file in the CD?
There is a strange buzzing sound from the monitor, though.
I do not get such buzzing when using framebuffer console on linux
with an Intel PC, so what is making the monitor buzz so loudly when
linux runs on this PowerPC? It sounds almost, like it will damage
the monitor, although the picture is stable and clear.
I don't know. that's strange...
Anyways, I tried the similar boot with the SCSI CD-ROM, and root=sr0,
but I was getting sleepy when trying to fiddle with linuxrc to get
it to find and mount KNOPPIX from /dev/sr0, I guess it will work
easiest if you add /dev/sr? to DEVICES for the future.
Also please remember to add "e100" driver to the modules for the Intel
ethernet card, and perhaps also the "tulip" driver (in debian Woody it
works with the driver de4x5.c) if possible, that way I will be on the
network too :)
Yes, i will correct that in the next iso.
I tried the same boot with the alpha release (
ftp://ftp.crihan.fr/mirrors/knoppix-mib.org/knoppix-MiB-PPC-alpha-2e.iso
but although now it does find init, and boots up a little bit, it gets
stuck at:
Processor 0 is a
and nothing more happens.
Really strange. Normally it just read /proc/cpuinfo. I will check that.
Oh, and another thing I tried with your wonderful k-mib-ppc-beta-pre10
was to type 'startx'. It indeed did bring up a X initial screen, grey
with the mouse moving. In the middle it brought up a little message
box about not finding any .Xsession or window manager, but I guess
you will be adding that in the future for the full CD, and it isn't
included on the beta, right?
right.
thanks,
