[K-mib-ppc] Boot problems - PowerMac 8600

I am trying to get beta-pre10 running on an old powermac 8600.  I've 
installed BootX, but when I try to boot into Linux, it can't mount the 
CD and gives me a KNOPPIX file system cannot be found error message.  
Is there a particular kernel option I should be using?
