My latest G+: c'est bientôt ! |
Which non libre repositories are we using? Mainly github that while uses the almighty git still is proprietary software, at least according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_open-source_software_hosting_facilities : I haven't been able to locate the repository of the sw running on their servers.Raphael, I would like to contribute to the financial effort, if you like.Maintaining a GNU project gives us some moral duties, mainly to try to use only facilities based on libre-software.Let me clarify this: Raphael is using only software libre yet he is paying real money for the liberty-eiffel.org domain and server.
Please let me use that Frances-ism since using the term "Free Software" is far too easily misunderstandable.
I would keep the repositories on github just as a backup, keeping savannah and github repositories aligned. Then we had the blog which does not see anything new since last year. Shall we keep it, shut it down or move to an eventual wordpress installation of liberty-eiffel.org? Raphael put a wiki on liberty-eiffel.org which is appropriate for documentation. Since Wordpress and Wikimedia share almost all their requisites I think that the server *may* bear such an addition,
We are also using Google+ which is also proprietary. My opinion is that we shall have a pragmatic approach: be present of those networks because too many people are already there, not forgetting projects like diaspora, friendica and the like which are implemented as free sw;LibertyEiffel first need to be known.
I'm not a fan of facebook but I suspect that the programmer audience there is not relevant.Linkedin could be much more interesting thought.
