Thanks Tim. Applied to HEAD with a few small changes:
* use config-h.in which looks nicer alongside stamp-h.in
* use -*-Autoconf-*- as the mode marker
Is it really necessary to specify the package name and version number twice
with autoconf-2.50 (AC_INIT and AM_INIT_AYTOMAKE)? If so, it sucks. What
happens if they get out of sync? Which one arbitrates the setting of
$PACKAGE and $VERSION?
