You've gone this far now, how about you try to redo the patch based on
the comment above, then try to write a ChangeLog entry for it, too, and
then we look at it again? I'm sure you can do it!

done, but seriously, you can do it too...

Ralf is right - the point of open source is that anyone should be able to
scratch their own itch. We don't have unlimited time, so the more work
you do in scratching your itch, the easier it makes our job to just
include your patch rather than repeat the work for something that is not
scratching our itch. By encouraging you to submit better patches, we are
trying to empower you, rather than doing it all ourselves.

And you think that I have plenty of time ? I'm trying to fix problems in cegcc and libtool to make my lib (actually 6 libs) to run on Windows ce. All the time spent in fixing bugs in libtool and cegcc are time not spent in coding on those libs. Just for a 2 lines patch in config, i have waited several months. The first mail i've sent about problems in mingw32ce was sent mid september, which means that i'm waiting for some mails to be answered (not problems fixed, just answers of mails !) for almost 1 month. Some users complain that the libs are not very easy to be compiled. Hopefully, those libs are also open source so i can argue that i have no dead line.

Personally, I've never even tried compiling for mingw32ce; not even Cygwin
is brave enough to support a limited platform, since it is primarily for
embedded systems and not broad-scale development. You have the most
expertise with this platform, so if we are going to support it, we need a
lot of effort from you.

I'm not an expert, nor on the libtool side (i don't understand more than 1% of the ltmain.sh script) nor a cegcc one. cegcc devs don't look at libtool ML, same for libtool devs wrt the cegcc ML. I can understand that. But I can also expect that some people from libtool and cegcc projects can help me

Right now, on libtool side, Ralf helped me a lot, and Bob gave me some advices. That's all.

I have mentioned several times some problems. If you look closely to some my last mails, I have asked "where to look in ltmainsh to fix problem *** ?". Did I have an answer ? No ! So, please, don't say that i'm not putting effort in fixing problems of libtool for the mingw32ce platform.

I'm not going to look at all the libtool code, I'm not going to fix all the problems myself and I'm expecting help from developpers of libtool because they know more libtool code than me. They can save my time, I can save your time (wrt my problems). If you think that open source projects means than devs don't have to help and users have to fix themselves their problems, then i would give up libtool and write my own Makefile. It would be faster for me (it would take me less than 1 day to write all of them). But I think that it can be usefull for other people too to have support of the mingw32ce compiler in libtool.
