How bizarre -- it does.
I sync'ed to HEAD (4791a76), rebuilt and observed that almost every
invocation either crashes or hangs.
I then applied above patch, and got 100/100 clean executions.
I then reverted the patch, and again observed 9/10 executions failing.
But that patch sure looks innocent.
