I can reroll that patch basically when it is being committed, basically not applying the patch rather than applying the rule. It's true that it will be a nuisance for doc patches under review when it is committed: they will likely need rebasing. _If_ they touch the same lines. If not, I don't think that this patch even affects the line numbers, so any patch will apply without offset.
I'll be rolling a new review presently to show that this is not time-critical. The main question really is whether it is desired.
