Here's one that has the same linebreak with the same tune, but doesn't
need lilypond-book.

You're right. That is, it is in fact an undesirable place for a
break, but not because the note is crossing the barline. Putting a
\break after the fis does in fact accomplish this, but I would expect
putting \noBreak before the fis to also accomplish this, and it
doesn't.
