Yah, I did the mkfontdir, xset thing already.

yep.
I'll investigate further. BTW, are you using defoma in your debian box? (just
wandering if it has to do with it)
Anyway, I straced it and (of course) if I grep the output for "fonts" I get more
than 250 lines. If I grep for "pfa" I get these 3:
read(3, "ti8.pfa\necbm14.pfa\necrm12.pfa\nfe"..., 4096) = 4096
read(3, "onts/feta-braces-g.pfa\" 0 108896"..., 4096) = 4096
open("/home/kroger/.fonts/feta16.pfa", O_RDONLY) = 3
Shouldn't it look for more pfa fonts? (the output of strace shows
lots of afm and tfm fonts)
