A bit late, but here it is:
- a lot of work is being done on correct rendering of Stems and other
objects in pdf output. This was a longstanding issue, but i think
there's a fair chance of the fix being available in 2.18:

- Urs Liska writes a 'lobbying' paper about using plain text for music
editing. This could have a big influence in some circles. He's also
having a presentation about this on his University.

"backwards-compatible" as possible.
