Neither have I, but it sounds like lilypond is working just fine.
Don't forget that lilypond is a command-line tool -- clicking an icon
won't get you a GUI. Re-read the installation notes, then enter the
dos shell (or whatever it's called) and try "compiling" the test .ly
files.
