problems compiling 1.4.9 on linux suse 6.2

hi guys.  inimpost is in my path.  i've ./configured lily after making
sure it was in my path.  when i make, i get this:

i've checked the INSTALL.TXT file.  for some reason, even though i
have a new tetex (tetex-1.0.7-138), i don't have mfplain.mp file.
would this explain the problem?  what should i do?  is there any more
information i should provide?
