I'd rather try
bash ./configure

If they are not in a default location where gcc finds them,
read in INSTALL.txt on how to use the environment variables
CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS to add the necessary paths (described
in conjunction with kpathsea in INSTALL.txt, but I'm sure you
can extrapolate to the other libs).
