I've done what it said as part of the install. So /etc/lilypond-profile is 
called from /etc/profile. And the result on the variables is this:

$ echo $TEXMF
address@hidden@,!!/usr/local/share/texmf}

$ echo $GS_LIB
@local_lilypond_datadir@/ps:

$ echo $GS_FONTPATH
:/usr/local/share/lilypond/1.6.0/fonts/afm/:/usr/local/share/lilypond/1.6.0/fonts/tfm/:/usr/local/share/lilypond/1.6.0/fonts/source/

Now, those @local_lilypond_datadir@ look strange to me - are they right? or 
are they supposed to have been changed for the real directory by this point?
