I couldn't have said it better. Like sign language or Chinese (and unlike English spelling, may I remind my fellow anglophones), it has its own logic and, once gotten used to, is not at all cumbersome. I've been using the \transpose function quite a bit recently and find it to be fun as well as fast and accurate.
