Since you explicitly specify a double bar, this overrides the
start repeat symbol. How do you want it typeset?

... ||  ||: ...
or
... ||: ...
or
|||:
or
???

Note that the "|:" symbol includes double bar lines even though you may
want a different setup of fat and thin lines.

should be repeated once.  i'm trying to do this with this in my global
definition:

        \skip 1*8 \bar "||"
\repeat volta 2 { \skip 1*20 }
the :| line is drawn at the end, but there's no |: at the start of
measure nine.  am i doing something incorrectly?
