There's no such thing as "newer official" for stable releases.
Woody was frozen July 19th, 2002.
Adding:
deb ftp://ftp.lilypond.org/pub/LilyPond/binaries/debian woody .
deb http://www.lilypond.org/ftp/binaries/debian woody .
to your apt/sources.list is as official as it gets. I believe an
1.6.9 has been posted by Laura Conrad that should get tested and added
there.
