To my surprise, I found the word "polymetric" defined in HDM.  Even
if you had coined the word, however, I don't think that there is
any example of a hyphen following the prefix "poly", e.g.: polymath,
polygamy, polyrhythm, polytonal, etc.  I think you
want the hyphen out so that users can search the document and find
"polymetric".  DaveA

Yes, and there are three ways of approaching the idea of a shortcut
for a long scale.

1.  You can program your music source, as in the
    famous "hoom-pah".

2.  You can add something to lilypond, which would
    have to be maintained by someone.

3.  You can create an editing tool which
    writes out the notes for you.

To make the long scale, you can program the music source simply by
using relative pitch.  It's done already.  Write the first octave and 
copy it as many times as may be necessary.  DaveA
