Hi,

Thank you for further helping me. I first read the help on
Line Breaking in the LilyPond manual, so I am aware of this.
Still it does not seem to work. Maybe I am doing it wrongly
after all, but it seems the beaming across barlines really upsets the 
LilyPond line breaking.

Maybe currently there is a limitation in Lilypond that cannot deal
with beams being interrupted for line breaks? (There is a beam
over each barline.)
