GSview 4.4 printing dilemma

I've d/l and installed AFPL Ghostscript 8.0 and GSview 4.4 on my win98 system. 
The problem is during the
installation of GSview4.4 it says "the TEMP is not already defined, this line 
will be added to the
autoexec.bat", the line being SET TEMP=C:\  . There is also an "update 
autoexec.bat" box and a "keep backup of
old autoexec.bat" box, both of which are ticked.

When the GSview program is opened, now it's installed, a box appears saying 
"set environment variable TEMP to
a valid writable directory or GSview won't be able to print". Everything else 
seems to work fine.

Any solutions? (Newby talk please)
