Re: lilypond 1.8.1-1 on OS X 10.2.6 installed but test fails

Apparently, the Type1 fonts (vector fonts that look much better than
the standard bitmap fonts in PDF files) are missing in your package.
You might want to try the following instructions (copied from the
LilyPond installation instructions):

wget 
http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/lilypond/lilypond_1.8.0-1_i386.deb
ar x lilypond_1.8.0.-1_i386.deb
tar -C / -zxf  data.tar.gz /usr/share/lilypond/1.8.0/fonts/type1/
tar -C / -zxf  data.tar.gz /usr/share/lilypond/1.8.0/dvips/
texhash

Let's hope your Fink system have the necessary tools.
