great info, thanks! I've put it in a file called "readme.txt".

It would really be nice to have debs of "lilypond-unstable" for debian
stable and testing, but I'm afraid I can't help you right now. I
compile those sid lilypond-unstable for my own use and share it with
other users/bug hunters so we can have more people using/testing the
latest versions so bugs can be fixed earlier and features implemented
sooner. However, I am considering the possibility of becoming a debian
developer and making a official "lilypond-unstable" package. I guess
it would be available for all debian flavors then.

It happened to me once! :-( after that I decided to *only* use debian
stable, but then I got sick of not having updated packages (like
lilypond) and decided to use unstable again. I haven't any problem so
far.
