I wouldn't say it's necessary. You'll get very far by looking at the
examples in the documentation and in the "Tips and Tricks" and
"Regression Test" documents. If you need to do something more intricate,
there are several people on this mailing list that can assist.

See above. Scheme and elisp are both different dialects of LISP,
so there are some similarities.
