RE: lyrics distance one more time -- works

I tried your trick with the extra:

\set minimumVerticalExtent = ##f
\set verticalExtent = #'(1 . 0)

...just before the \lyrics that needed to be moved.  It worked just
fine.

As for your observation that a new lyric line was causing the lyrics to
be set lower; I had thought about that, but the problematic burst of
lyrics was actually the fifth set in the original file.  It was only
this last lyric line that was was adjusted close enough by placing the
minimumVerticalExtent = ##f and the verticalExtent values in the \score
block.  Puzzling.
