Problems running LilyPond on OS X

I'm running LilyPond 2.2.3 with fink, and whenever I try to process a 
file
I get this:

    paper output to `keys.tex'...

    Analyzing keys.tex...
    Running ...
    lilypond: error: LaTeX failed on the output file.
    lilypond: error: The error log is as follows:

    LATEX output to `keys.latex'...
    TEX output to `keys.tex'...

I tried to use pdflatex manually on the resulting .latex file, but I got
this:

    [...]
    No pages of output.
    Transcript written on pdflatex.log.
    rm: /sw/var/lib/texmf/web2c/pdflatex.log: Operation not permitted
    mv: cannot move `pdflatex.log' to 
`/sw/var/lib/texmf/web2c/pdflatex.log':
      Operation not permitted
    rm: /sw/var/lib/texmf/web2c/pdflatex.fmt: Operation not permitted
    mv: cannot move `pdflatex.fmt' to 
`/sw/var/lib/texmf/web2c/pdflatex.fmt':
      Operation not permitted
    I can't find the format file `pdflatex.fmt'!

Is there something I'm doing wrong?  I updated to the latest (stable)
version of lilypond that fink has, and I'm using the latest tetex
packages.  Thanks for any help!
