I've left both groups in, to let people know that this issue is being
looked at. IMO the appropriate place is actually lilypond-devel and Matthias
(the fink package maintainer), since this deals with 2.3.x

For future emails, please reply to lilypond-devel and the individuals
involved. :)

There are some oddities in the output. First, the fonts used for the
header all appear as some monospaced font (Courier?). I guess this is
expected, since Lily couldn't find the font files.

Interesting. My Lilypond setup doesn't have this problem (I'm also on
fink 2.3.8), but...

The next oddity is the kerning of the fonts in the PDF output. All of the
text in the header, as well as textual dynamic markings, is squished
together and is mostly unreadable. Oddly, a space character still seems to produce the same amount of white space; it's just the letters within a
word that are compacted together.

... I have this problem. I've been doing weird things to lilypond and tetex
lately, so I figured this was just a personal thing.

So it looks like the fonts aren't properly installed by the new package
either.

Can anyone shed any light on these problems? Many thanks!

2.3.9 has a fairly major change in the way that fonts are created. Before 2.3.9, fonts were extracted from an rpm. After 2.3.9, fonts are being created using mftrace (the usual way for lilypond to create fonts). But mftrace has only just
been packaged for fink, so there will be some problems.

Sorry I can't help more, but some information is better than none!
