Anyway, there's this tiny implementation detail called language
specification that someone needs to deal with. See lily/parser.yy
^ and _ are provided as a shorthand for:
\override Script #'direction = UP/DOWN
and [^_-]<DIGIT> is a shorhand for
\markup { \finger "<DIGIT>" }
