Can we use variable options for lilypond-book? For example,
\documentclass{book}
\newcommand{\foo}{staffsize=18,indent=1.3\cm}
\begin{document}
\lilypondfile[\foo}{bar.ly}
\end{document}
(the answer is probably no, but there's no harm in asking...)
