Have you used "\set tupletSpannerDuration = #(ly:make-moment 1 4)" 
previously in the music? Because that is the only way I can reproduce 
your problem. Try adding "\set tupletSpannerDuration = #(ly:make-moment 
1 2)" before your quarter-triplets. The relevant section in the manual
