This is a feature of the shell, not of lilypond itself.  I've added it 
back in to CVS, though.

Lilypond often gives unhelpful error messages; a forgotten } somewhere
in your file can give completely unexpected results.  Try it in 2.5.16, 
and if that
also fails, try constructing a small example that demonstrates this 
problem.
(ie start commenting out sections of your input file until it the error 
stops, then
go back to find out where the error was)
