Error When Typesetting

I just installed LilyPond 2.6.0-2 on OS X 10.3.9. When I attempt to
compile the example that comes with LilyPond, I get the following error
message in a popup window entitled Process:

 Cannot write program directory
This program must be installed before using.

I am running the code from a non-admin account. The code was installed in
/Applications.
