I had a similar problem with Lilypond a while back. I looked in the guile
users list archives and found a reference to guile-1.6 being broken.
It suggested that the /usr/share/guile/1.6/ice-9/slib.scm file was broken.
and to copy and paste the following in the file.
(define-module (ice-9 slib))
(load-from-path "slib/guile.init")
I did so and then reinstalled guile. After this things seemed to go
smoothly. I think the problem is with guile not Lilypond.
