temporary second voice?

In addition to my questions of earlier, one more:

Is there any way to temporarily activate a second voice in a part?  For example, in the piano part I'm working on, the left hand bounces between staves (beamed together) which I've figured out, but then it comes to a part where the right hand plays a chord that spans staves while the left carries on with the line:

Treble: <d e>8-.
Bass:  <fis gis>8-. (stem connected to treble)
e, (not connected to above notes) continues rest of line

I thought it would be a matter of starting a new voice, but there are probably only three places in the score I would need to do this.  Is there a simpler solution?

Thanks,
Rick
