I guess a good solution would be to produce postscript instead of pdf
and to import that file to a image processor like gimp or inkscape. That
way you can create either png or svg files which both could be used as
images in your
openoffice file. AFAIR OOWriter also supports importing of encapsulated
postscript which can be created with
the ghostscript-tool ps2epsi.
