The docs build infrastructure is now mature enough to add translated
docs. However, ly snippets can't be translated now, so you'll have to
stick with English note names and English texts in ly snippets. To be
more precise, I'd say: "All snippets in translated docs should be
verbatim copies of original snippets.", or: "Keep ly snippets intact
when translating!".

In my humble opinion, it would be easier for you to wait for the
following items before actually starting translating this tutorial:

- we should know what to do with these docs (see Graham's reply and its
follow-ups).

- you should ideally be able to compile the documentation (which
currently requires compiling LilyPond itself) to see the result of your
work before submitting. This step is not required, but having at least
one person per language team who tracks development with git and
compiles the docs is necessary.

- you should now technical details about translation of LilyPond
documentation, i.e. the Texinfo file format (simply read the info docs)
and Lily doc translation specific issues (I should write guidelines for
this very soon).

Feel free to ask more details about translation issues (about website or
documentation) on the list.

Cheers,
A member of LilyPond French translation team
