mkdir ~/.fonts
ln -s 
{path/to}/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/share/lilypond/current/fonts/otf/*.otf 
~/.fonts/
(all one line)

works for me with Inkscape 0.44.1 on OSX 10.4.8.
