I would like to help, but will need more information. I am on OS X
and do not have a problem. I am on 2.11.19.
From Terminal.app execute these commands and publish results here.
echo $PATH
fc-list --version
lilypond --version
sudo find / -name "fc-list" -print
sudo find / -name "fonts.conf" -print
I have at least four versions of fontconfig installed.
lilypond
darwinports
X11R6
XCode SDK
The combination of the path and the specific path sequence could have
become corrupted. Lilypond should execute the version of fontconfig
distributed with it, but perhaps something is confused. The best way
to do that is make sure your "/Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/
Resources/bin" is at the beginning of your PATH.

After installing the Mac OS X Intel v2.10 branch, LilyPond died!
Completely hosed.
I got the font errors that others have reported, and since then
nothing works.
I've tried installing lots of other versions from the 2.11 and 2.8
branches.
Nothing! None of them generate now.
Help! I can't live without LilyPond. :)
