Hehe, I found out there is a really simple solution of how to make stems
look nice in acroread.
In all its simplicity, add
\paper {
blot-diameter = 2 \pt
}
:-)
Now all stems appear to have same thickness in acroread.
Unfortunately it does not work with bar-lines, though.
