Lilypond error on starting for the first time

Lilypond error on starting for the first time

I just downloaded Lilypond version 2.10.33-1 (upgrading from 2.10.2), and when I try to typeset files I get an error:
(OSError: [Errno 8] Exec format error)
I'm running Mac OS 10.4.10; Lilypond is in the Applications folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
