What exactly are the problems you encounter?

I always do just this:
$ curl http://www.volny.cz/smilauer/rumor/src/rumor-1.0.3b.tar.bz2 | tar xj
$ cd rumor-1.0.3b/
$ ./configure
$ make
$ su -c 'make install'
